Trey’s “T”s

Friday, January 30th, 2009

I just walked into my bedroom and found that Trey has been practicing his “T”s! I’m so proud of him… too bad they’re on the walls and bedroom door! :) Trey has drawn seven very nice, and very large “T”s, and I’m afraid he’s extremely proud of himself.

My Little Snuggle-Bug

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

Addison has turned into quite a little cuddler in the last few days. Trey and Addy both have always been busy babies, and just never seemed to have the time, so I’m loving this new development! :) I’ve been trying to take full advantage of the opportunity.

This morning I was doing my devotions (with Addy sitting in my lap), when she started trying to snuggle. (more…)

Mommy Tip for Removing Permanent Marker

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Just in case any of my fellow mommies have had any permanent marker accidents, like we did a couple of months ago, I thought I would share a new-found remover. :)

Trey (as some of you may have read in my story about the very long day) recently decorated his sister’s white crib, with black, blue, and red permanent markers. Since then I have been told (by many helpful people) that the way to prevent these things from happening is to keep anything permanent out of reach- but it was too late for this one.

Juice Stains

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

Just wondering if anyone out there has any good tips for removing juice stains from colored clothing. Bleach is one of my very best friends, but I have a stain on one of Trey’s polo shirts (light blue) that I’m not having any luck with.

Trey’s Big Boy Talk

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

Trey has just starting saying things in the last couple of days that sound so funny coming out of his little self. Lately, when I ask him if he wants a drink or needs to use the potty, and he wants to say no, he says “No tank you, I’m pine (fine).”

I think that going from a plain yes or no, to these little sentences is what surprises me, and makes me smile.

Last Saturday afternoon, I asked him if he wanted a snack, and he said, “Aw, thank you. No.” I smiled, and asked if he would like to play with his play-dough, and he said, “Okay, if you want to.” Who knows what he’ll come out with next. I better be careful what I say though, because I have a feeling it might be repeated!

Oh, as I was finishing this entry, Trey just walked into our bedroom, from the master bathroom. He has apparently sprayed himself (thoroughly) with Daddy’s cologne. When he walked over to the desk where I am sitting I said, “Wow, buddy, you smell good!” He looked up and grinned, and said with an ornery little giggle, “Oh-h-h. Tank you!”

“Pity Addy”

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Yesterday as we were getting in the car to go to church, Wes asked Trey “Can you tell Mommy that she looks pretty?” Trey obediently said “You look pity, Mommy.”

Then he turned to Addison, who was wearing her winter hat and said, “Addy, you pity in your hat.” :) I’ve heard him calling her “Pity Addy” a couple of times now in the last few of days.

Addy’s New Word

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Last week at almost nine months, Addy came out with a new word! “Bite-bite”. She says it after I tell her no-no for biting me. :) Oh well. At least she’s learning. Now I just have to teach her not to bite.

Her latest accomplishments are: clapping, waving, and brushing her brand new teeth :). She also loves to mimic little words and sounds that we make to her. I can’t believe that in April, she’ll already be a year old. I’m still trying to believe that Trey is two now!

Our Wintry Showers

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

We’ve had snow on the forecast several times this winter, but haven’t gotten any. Well, it was supposed to snow, again, Monday night. When I woke up yesterday morning I thought, “Nah, it’s too dark for it to have snowed.” I peeked out the window anyway, and there was snow!!!

I am so excited! I have been hoping that Trey would get one good snow this winter. I acted like a six year old (I do that a lot) and ran and woke poor travel- weary Hannah up, to tell her the good news. :) We all decided to (more…)

Surprise Visit

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Steven, Daniel and Hannah just surprised us with a visit!! They arrived Monday night. I found out that morning that Steven and Daniel were coming, but had no clue that Hannah was going to be with them! Rachel even talked to me for almost an hour on the phone that evening, and still didn’t spill the beans! You’re good girl!

We are sooo excited to have them here. Trey is having a blast. (more…)

Trey’s Thank You Scale

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Trey has started this new thing when he says thank you lately. I’ve noticed that the level of his gratitude sort of varies depending on how much he likes what he is thanking someone for. Here’s an example. If I hand him a sandwich for lunch, he usually just says “tank you”, if I gave him his hat, before he goes outside, he’ll say “tanks, Mom”, but if you give him something that he’s really excited about (like his yogurt after lunch today), he says “OH-ho-ho-hooo, Ta-a-ank yo-ou!” :)

It’s funny, but I guess we do the same thing as adults. It’s so much fun watching him grow and develop into his own little person.
