Wes and I recently started letting Trey earn an allowance for keeping his room clean all by himself and being Mommy’s helper. He’s been doing really well, and since learning a little about the value of money, has been eagerly snatching up nickels or dimes whenever he spots them. :)
After a couple of days of saving his daily quarter, he finally had a dollar. In an effort to show him what he could actually do with his money, I planned a little Mommy and Trey shopping date. :) Daddy agreed to keep Addison for nap time while we made a trip to the dollar store. :)
We had been doing a lot of talking for a few days about Christmas being the time that we celebrate Jesus’ birthday. I had told Trey that one way we can make Jesus happy, is by doing special things for other people. Not long after our talk, Trey had announced that he was going to spend his dollar on his little sister. Talk about melting a Mommy’s heart! :)
When we got to the store, Trey picked out a doll bottle for Addison’s Bitty Baby. It’s the kind with the disappearing milk – I had one when I was little and didn’t even know they still made them! :) After he had chosen his special gift, we had to walk past the rest of the toy isle – the section with the boy’s toys. ;) That’s when Trey spotted a little fireman (it was one of those little sponge-y things that grow when you out them in water) that he couldn’t resist!
I already had something in the cart for Trey, so I reminded him about doing things for others, but told him that he could decided between the two. I wasn’t sure what he was going to say. After thinking for a minute, and studying the little fireman, he looked up and said in a little voice that nearly broke my heart, and with these exact words, “Mommy, I’m so sorry for wantin’ to buy this little man for myself.” Then he put the “little man” back on the shelf and walked toward the counter to pay for the doll bottle. ♥
Aww! That is SOOOO Sweet!!! He’s so nice!!!

Aw, thank you Judy! :)
If I were a girl, I’d cry! How sweet and beautiful! What a heart that little guy has.
:) I almost did!
That is AWESOME! Thank you for sharing that! How thoughtful for such a little guy!
Another precious thought from Trey!
