You know how some people talk about having bad hair days? I have those too, usually I just count the good ones though – it’s easier. :) Well, around our house every once in a while we just seem to have a bad diaper day. They come around a little less frequently since there’s only one in diapers now, but we still have them. Someday I’m going to invent a diaper with a little button for you to push, that causes the diaper to suction to the baby’s body, thereby preventing all leaks. :)
Well, earlier this afternoon I was helping Trey run to the potty, when Addison started fussing. Since she’s teething, and has been doing quite a bit of that lately, I thought she’d be fine until we finished.
I guess she got tired of waiting, because she finally crawled to me, and held her arms out for me to pick her up. When I bent down to lift her, I found the reason for her crying. Her diaper was so bad, that it was seeping I don’t know how many inches up her back. And for the sake of being polite, I won’t describe the diaper I’ll just say it was very, very bad.
I got Trey taken care of, and decided to use the floor for Addy instead of the changing table. By the time I got her clothes off, the “diaper mess” was up to the back of her neck. :) She was a little wiggly, and it ended up being a very good thing that we used the floor. :)
I ran some bath water and cleaned up the floor, then got Addy into the tub. Trey was so excited that it was bath time this early in the day, and started saying “Bath, Mommy? Mommy! Bath?”, while he splashed in the water with his hands. :) I told him to take his hands out of the water, because this bath was really yucky!
When I showed him why the bath was so yucky, he started crying and screaming, saying that his hands were “kucky!” I don’t have the strongest stomach, so everything took longer than it should have. A couple of fresh tub-fulls of water later, they both did finally get cleaned, but I sure hope it’s a good long while before we have another bad diaper day! :)
Poor you, but that is funny!! I can imagine Trey… that was probably pretty traumatic for him!
Aw! Poor Trey! Life can be pretty traumatic for those who don’t like to get “kucky”. :)
