I was in the bathroom getting ready this morning, when Trey came in and sat down for a chat. He said, “Mommy, I wanna talk about when you were a yittle girl and Paw-paw used to give you spankings.” (Paw-paw just recently shared this interesting info with Trey )

So, I told Trey all about when Mommy was “yittle” and how she had to learn to be a good little girl before she could grow up and be a big girl. Then when she finally learned to be good (or mostly good hehe ) she grew up and married Daddy. And then, they got Trey! Trey giggled and said, “Yeah, and one day Twey will gwow up and be mawwied to Addy.” I smiled, then explained as gently as I could that Addy was his sister, and we don’t usually marry sisters. Trey looked a little distraught, and asked, “Well what am I supposed to mawwy then?” I told him that when he grew up, he would meet a very special girl to marry. He seemed content and smiled for a minute, then became very serious again. He looked up with the sweetest little look in his eyes and said, “But what will I do without you?” ♥

Last night, the kids and I were in the car on our way home from running errands, when I decided to try to teach them to play one of my old favorite childhood games…I Spy! Well, we didn’t exactly end up playing quite by the rules, but we sure had fun! That’s what games are for anyway, right?

When my turn came around, I spied “something bright, up in the sky” which somehow led to a discussion about stars. That’s when Trey explained to me that stars are really, “fyeckles in the sky”. Did you know that?

Trey has been very interested in baseball lately, and a few weeks ago, started asking, "Mommy? Do you think maybe Daddy would buy Twey a baseball?" :)...

Trey has been very interested in baseball lately, and a few weeks ago, started asking, “Mommy, do you sink maybe Daddy would buy Twey a baseball?” We’ve been learning that things are much more appreciated (and played with) if they’re wanted for a little while before they’re gotten. So, we talked to him about “saving his dollars”, and finally (special thanks to Pop-Pop ) had enough dollars saved for his very special, and very longed for, baseball!

Saturday morning, I woke Trey up by telling him that this was the day we got to go pick out his ball. He was excited, and hurried through his morning routine a little more eagerly than usual so we could leave. I had just gone in the bathroom to finish getting ready before we headed out the door, when I heard Trey coming. Probably to ask if we were leaving again, I thought!

When I saw his face though, he seemed to be very deep in thought. Then he said in his famous “I’m thinking” tone, “Mommy…I sink I don’t want to buy a baseball.” I was puzzled and very surprised, so I asked, “What?” He tilted his serious little face and explained, “Yeah, I sink I would weally yike to buy a Boss instead.” Okay, maybe some of you are a little quicker here than me, but I had absolutely no clue what he was talking about! I had to have him repeat himself over and over, poor little guy, and finally we got it out - he really didn’t want to buy a baseball, just a Boss…a Mustang Boss.

Wow. Mommy is very ashamed to say, she had no clue such a thing even existed, but Trey did. I was still surprised about the baseball, but reluctantly told him that we could go to a different store - if that was really what he wanted to do with his money, and look for a little Mustang Boss! Do they make those in the hotwheels line? Trey looked up with one of those looks that says “*sigh* you still don’t understand!” and said, “Well, I’m not weally talkin’ about a yittle one, I’m just talkin’ about a BIG one!”

Aaand, after a long talk about dollars and how many, many dollars a BIG Mustang Boss would cost, we settled for the original plan, and bought a baseball.

A few months ago, Addison was playing in Trey’s room and fell out of his window seat where she was sitting looking at books. She chipped her very front two teeth on the corner of Trey’s little bed - not too badly, but it was definitely bad enough to make her Mommy panic! Well, the the two little chips also made her teeth soft and we had to put her on a pretty careful diet…no more sugar! I’m sure it’s been good for her in the long run. And don’t feel bad - we’ve replaced all those unhealthy snacks with healthier yummy ones for both of the kids.

Wellll, as Daddies are sometimes prone…Thursday, on our trip home from NC, Daddy decided it would be okay to bend the rules just this once, by splitting a mini twix bar with Addison. She was pretty excited, as she already has her Mommy’s terrible weakness for chocolate. After a few minutes of very quiet, happy chewing (and a very chocolate-y face/outfit) we heard this sweet, sweet little prayer (btw, this is the first time I’ve heard her “pray” on her own)! “Dear Je-shus, Dear Je-shus, thank you for my food! Ahh-men!”

The camera battery was almost gone, but it lasted just long enough to snap this pic! All we could do was smile. Such a precious memory. And I’m almost sure that God smiled too!

Well, we've been on the hunt for a house for several weeks now...

Well, we’ve been on the hunt for a house for several weeks now…and still don’t seem to be much closer than we were when we started. Dad and Mom (and all of the rest of the family!) have been so gracious to share their home with us in these last few weeks. It has been interesting , but we have enjoyed the time spent together, realizing that we probably won’t all be close enough to be together like this for long.

Combining two families with very different ages (hence very different schedules ) and then throwing Wes’s crazy work schedule into the mix has made for some exciting times!

While we have caught ourselves starting to get discouraged on more than one occasion, we’ve been quickly reminded of the goodness and grace of God! What would we do in a time like this without family close-by?! Also, God has lovingly reminded me of the fact that though our problems seem huge from our human perspective, God sees the big picture…which I have a feeling makes everything seem just a bit less gigantic.

I can’t help thinking of all of the blessings (which I might add are even “huge-er” than those “huge” problems ) that God has showered us with. My pregnancy is going well, the kids are healthy, we haven’t been in any car accidents, Wes has a good job…the list could go on and on! Especially when you think of all of the horrible things that could happen, that haven’t!

And while finding a house can still probably be found somewhere near the top of our our “Urgent Prayer Requests List” at the moment, we realize that this is a learning time for us. A time of trusting, growth…and a time for learning lots of very interesting ways to stay organized!

One of my favorite verses…

“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” II Cor. 12:9

We are grateful.

Just thought I would share a couple of the flattering comments I have received from my sweet little Trey this week. For anyone who hasn’t already noticed, my baby bump has been growing quite rapidly. I finally broke down and started wearing maternity clothes this week! Well, Trey has been especially interested in people’s sizes lately…an interest which can sometimes lead to some very unusual conversations. Anyway, a couple of days ago, he asked me, just out of the blue, “Mommy? Um…are you gettin’ fat?” Nice.

Well, yesterday, my brother Timothy was picking on Wes and said something about not wanting to sit by him because “he’s old and he has a big belly.” (Timothy’s words NOT mine - I think you look great honey!) Trey (who is always thinking through something that someone has said, and pointing out either the truth or error in their statement ) said in a thoughtful tone, “Noo Uncle Timo-fee, Daddy doesn’t.” Then he thought for a minute longer and added, “But Mommy does!”

Wow. I am feeling great!

Addison has been growing up so fast in these last few weeks. I just stopped to think about it today...

Addison has been growing up so fast in these last few weeks. I just stopped to think about it today, and it almost seems like she’s grown two or three months worth in a couple of days!

Recently she has started putting complete sentences together…carefully forming each word to the very height of perfection! She is pretty particular for her little 20 month old self. It’s funny how even in a stressful moment, one of her perfectly formed little sentences can bring a smile to my face, and so much love to my heart that I am quickly reminded - there’s really never any reason to worry about a thing.

She has also started telling me when she needs to “potty” all on her own! This one was a surprise, as I had planned to wait until we were settled since we’ve been planning to move for a couple of months! We may just go ahead since she seems to be quite ready!

And the hugs this little girl gives!! Addison is famous for her long, sweet, and sometimes very tight “squeezes” as Paw-paw likes to call them. When she’s in the mood, she can snuggle, cheek-to-cheek, with her tiny arms wrapped around your neck for the longest time! Mommy is definitely loving this stage. And while it has it’s challenges too, I have to say that it has been one of my very favorite ages!

I was at Mom and Dad’s this evening, and had just finished dressing the kids for Mission’s Conference, when I took a second of Mommy-time to have a short conversation with my brother Steven. I was still listening for the kids, but they seemed to be getting along and enjoying themselves…after all, Mommies know all the tell-tale danger sounds! Riiight…

Well, after a few minutes of happy, sweet, playful sounds, I heard a squeal and decided to check. When Steven and I peeked into the next room, this is what we found…

…As terrible as I knew it was, Addison’s ghostly white tiny smiling face cracked me up, and I had to leave the room, try to make myself seem like the very disappointed Motherly figure I should be, and re-enter the room to remedy the situation.

Trey and Addison, I’ll admit it to both of you both one day…it was pretty funny. But since I’d really rather you not try to humor me again any time in the near future, I’ll just leave you with the thought that that was a very, very bad thing to do.

By the way, in case anyone ever needs to know, flour takes a while to wash out of hair.
