I have been enjoying watching Addison “Mommy” her baby doll these last couple of days. Every time I sit her down with her toy basket, she knows right away what she’s looking for. Never fail – she digs until she finds her baby. She talks to her, kisses her,and pokes her eyes. :)
This morning Addy saw Trey walking in the direction of her doll, and I am almost positive that she set a world record for fastest crawling baby! She got across that floor and put her body on top of her baby in a very protective way, then looked up at Trey. See? Wasn’t that very Mommy-like? :) Um, or might that just have been her first little display of selfishness? :)
I do think it is pretty amazing though that girls just seem to be born with the natural instinct to be motherly. I love the fact that I didn’t even try to teach her to play with dolls, we never taught Trey to play with cars or balls. I think it must’ve been planned that way. Of course they swap toys sometimes. We don’t mind Trey playing with a doll or Addy pushing a car around. But on the whole, they seem to be designed to like completely opposite things.
I love the way that God created boys and girls so obviously different – even a ten-month-old and two-year-old!
“…talks to her, kisses her, and pokes her eyes.”
That’s hilarious! And she sounds like a little mother hen! :)
Precious!
