Where has the time gone? It seems like just a few days ago that Brogan was born. Somehow, this past Sunday we found ourselves already celebrating the first month of his little life! He has brought so much joy to our family since his arrival.
Brogan loves to snuggle – and be snuggled – and that makes for a very happy Mommy. ;) I’ve been reminding myself lately, that that load of laundry in the dryer that’s waiting to be folded will still be there when nap time comes around…and those precious cuddles won’t.
At only four weeks, Brogan surprised us all by rolling over all by himself! He can also scoot himself around in circles when he’s laying on his tummy! Yesterday, he smiled and laughed while I talked to him – which was also a first. ♥ …I’m not sure if he was enjoying the conversation, or laughing about the towel on my head, but whatever the reason, it was priceless!
Oh, btw, our little guy weighed in at 9 lbs last week, and I had to pull out a couple of his 3 month outfits today in order to find something that fit! I’d say he’s quite healthy for being 3 weeks early. ;) He’s also a good little eater and has some pretty cute cheeks to prove it!
We haven’t been able to take pictures for a couple of weeks now – our camera is broken! :( I feel sick when I think about missing this stage with Brogan, but I’m trying to record things by writing them down instead of capturing them on camera. Still, it’s not the same. Sooo, even though a camera isn’t a “necessity”, it’s probably close to the top on my list of “urgencies”. ;)
Addison is becoming quite the little helper. She loves to sweep, dust, and help Mommy rinse the dishes. She asks regularly, “I help you, Mommy?” While sometimes this means taking a much longer time to get a job done, I’m enjoying it thoroughly.
As for being tiny, Addison finally hit the 25 lb mark this month! She now falls into the 10-25 percentile on the charts. ;) Yep – still tiny! Such a little girl, but such a “big” personality!
Two days after bringing Brogan home, Addison (still in diapers) came to tell us that she had used the potty. When I went to check, I found that she had indeed used the potty – and emptied the potty chair! :-/ Amazingly, she’s been dry ever since, (including bed-time!) with the exception of only a couple of accidents.
Addison is always ready to cuddle, which is so nice with Daddy working nights. Lately she has been keenly interested in God, an interest that has led to lots of questions. “Whewe is God? Why don’t I see Him?” …and on and on.
This morning, I listened from the next room as Addy prayed the sweetest, longest prayer I’ve ever heard a toddler have the patience to pray! It was precious. So precious, that I couldn’t resist peeking in a few times. ;) She talked to God, eyes squeezed tightly shut, just as if He were her friend. She thanked him for things, told Him about the things she wanted, giggled, (that was precious!), looked around for more things to talk about, closed her eyes again, and finally – after a very long time, finished. So wish I could have videoed that one!
Trey is our little man! He is learning to be caring and thoughtful of others, which is a joy to watch. Sometimes when he gets hurt (I mean really hurt), he tells me, “I didn’t cwy ’cause that would make Bwogan sad.”
He has been working hard at memorizing his latest Bible verse, Psalm 56:3, and can quote it, with the reference, from memory now! He asks to hear the story of Jonah every day – his new favorite (who he also named his beta-fish after). :) I think he kind of connects with Jonah a little bit – we’ve been working hard at immediate obedience. ;)
Trey loves figuring out new things, embraces a challenge, and absolutely hates not being able to master anything that he’s started – even if it’s way beyond his ability and age level. Must be the first-born coming out in him. I love his determination!
He also loves to sing…and dance… ;) One of his trademarks is his fixation for making songs up out of whatever he’s wanting to say, and then singing them over and over throughout the house! Ahhh, preciousness!
And the parents? They’re just trying to keep up with those precious, busy, little ones! But that’s for another post. ;)
We’re proud of Trey, Addy and Brogan – and also proud of their parents and the great job they are doing raising them. Wes, I have to admit – you’ve come a long way. From a thief (stealing my little girl) to giving us three precious grandkids (so far) :) – your “transformation” has been remarkable. Who knows, if you moved the family to Grand Cayman, I might nominate you for “sainthood” or something!
Thank you so much for this update. I miss all of you more than I can tell. I do enjoy the work here; but I am looking forward to Heaven. I love you.
The things you shared about each of the children are precious. xoxoxoxoxo for each of you.
much love,
Mom
This was so nice to read. I can just imagine Addy praying like that. It makes you curious… do you think there was a reason she giggled? I really wonder sometimes if very young children connect better than we would believe.
Aw, Daddy, thank you so much. Thank you for being an amazing example of parenting to me. I love you! And haha – I’m sure you can expect a comment from Wes, soon to follow. ;)
Aw, I think I might know, because I feel the same way. I love you, Mom. Hugs and kisses back!
Wow, you know I often wonder about things like that. It would be so interesting to know exactly what she was feeling.
thanks for telling us about the kids, they are truly blessed to have parents like you and wes, and i am truly blessed to have you all, love truman[poppy]
Aww, thank you so much Papaw! We feel very, very blessed to have YOU! Thank you for encouraging us. We love you. XOXO
